When saving your tooth matters most
Specialist root canal care for difficult cases, helping you preserve your natural teeth so you can get back to life.
Have you and your dentist had concerns related to a toothache?
Perhaps you are feeling worried about having root canal treatment?
Or your dentist has found root canal treatment of your tooth too tricky.
Maybe you have had root canal treatment and it still feels sore.
You and your dentist are both unsure about the source of your tooth pain
You are worried about infection causing problems with your general health
I can help!
I help patients and dentists manage tricky root canal problems
It can be troubling when a toothache or infection keeps rearing its ugly head and you haven’t gotten to the root cause of the problem (no puns intended!). Your dentist has done all they can and still don’t have the answers to your problems.
Having worked in a tertiary university hospital (teaching) and referral clinic setting for 19 years, I am very familiar with the cause and course of problems and can help you find a solution.
Let me help you navigate your journey with clarity, and peace of mind.
What are the benefits of working with me?
Empathic care
By taking the time to understand your needs and checking in throughout treatment, I can help minimise discomfort and ensure you feel at ease. The result is a more comfortable, relaxed experience from start to finish.
Clear education & communication
Avoiding jargon when explaining your problem will help you to retain the information. I will help you understand your options before you decide. This brings about better informed decision making and peace of mind.
Gentle & precise treatment
Care and attention to detail helps to minimise complications, leading to safer and more effective treatment.
My Services
01
Consultation and pain diagnosis
It’s not about how we solve the problem but about whether we are solving the ‘right’ problem with the right treatment.
This is highly valuable time spent in identifying the issue, its cause, before arriving at a diagnosis and finding a way forward.
02
Root canal treatment
Treatment designed to clear an infection within a tooth, helping you keep your tooth. It is carried out under local anaesthesia or if you are very worried about it hurting, sedation can be used as well.
03
Vital pulp therapy (aka deep filling)
Sometimes, your toothache is caused by a more superficial problem.
The consultation helps me to determine whether the health of the pulp is suitable for a deep filling (vital pulp therapy) rather than root canal treatment.
04
Surgical root canal treatment
If left long enough, a tooth infection can lead to a bone infection.
We can use surgery to help clear the infection from the bone.
Past patient experiences
“ Could not have been better, under the circumstances.
Ended up, sadly, having to have tooth removed, with a few challenges on the way to achieve that end result.
Pain free. Jenny was brilliant.
Calmly, professionally and reassuringly explained decisions as she progressed. Was as good an experience as such a thing could be. ”
— C Milne (April 2026)“ My first visit to Ashley House for an initial consultation following a referral for a specialist issue from my regular dentist.
Jenny Lai dentist was friendly, super helpful, informative and very professional and took time to answer all my questions and concerns. ”
— Anon (Mar 2026)“ Making a not great situation as good as possible.
Excellent throughout.
Jenny is a great communicator and informed every step of the way. ”

It is helpful to have additional information such as which tooth is your problem, pain history and X-rays. Thus, I usually prefer that you ask your dentist to refer you.
Your aftercare may also require work with your dentist and I usually write to your dentist looking after you so that they have information about what was done and what the next steps might be.
